My First Cross-stitch Project: Woodland Castle by design Works

Every stitcher has a project that holds a special place in their heart. For me, that project is Woodland Castle by Design Works.

I started this cross-stitch project in 2019, and it was the very first cross-stitch design I had ever attempted. Looking back, I definitely did not choose a small or simple beginner project! Woodland Castle is filled with colorful flowers, woodland animals, birds, trees, and a beautiful castle in the distance. The amount of detail is incredible, but it also makes the finished sections so rewarding to see.

Over the years, I have worked on it little by little. There have been times when I stitched regularly and other times when the project was put away for a while. Even though it is still unfinished, I am proud of how far it has come.

This project has taught me patience, persistence, and the importance of enjoying the process instead of rushing toward the finish. Each completed animal, flower, and section of the woodland scene reminds me of how much I have learned since placing those first stitches in 2019.

The unfinished area may still look large, but compared with where I began, I can see real progress. I plan to continue working on Woodland Castle until the final stitch is complete—no matter how long it takes.

Sometimes our oldest unfinished projects are more than items on a to-do list. They are records of where we started, how our skills have grown, and why we fell in love with stitching in the first place.
