Working Through January

Updated: Feb 2

This January, my son has been stitching his way through Mouse’s Snow Day by Tiny Modernist, and it has been such a delight to watch him work. He’s taking on each little motif with care, focus, and so much excitement, celebrating every finish like a tiny victory. There’s something magical about seeing his confidence grow with each completed section.

One of the highlights has been his eagerness to learn new techniques along the way. He’s especially excited to master the loop start, proudly practicing it on that very first stitch. Seeing him want to learn “the right way” and take ownership of his work has been incredibly rewarding.

Naturally, his enthusiasm is already carrying him forward. He’s set his sights on Mouse’s Pumpkin Pie and Mouse’s Strawberry Jam, also by Tiny Modernist, and can’t wait to continue his Mouse stitching adventures. These sweet, cozy designs feel like the perfect next steps—familiar, fun, and just challenging enough to keep him engaged.

Watching him stitch with such joy has been a beautiful reminder of why we love this craft: it’s about creativity, patience, and the happiness found in making something stitch by stitch.
